I could completely start and end this blog with the above “Don’t” as it is simply is the biggest no-no you can do in email marketing.  The sellers of purchased list are not concerned about getting permission from the recipients or even verifying if they are valid email address (even if they say they do verify, they don’t) and this leads to spam compliants, invalid email addresses, and even worse – spam traps.

All of the above have an absolute negative effect on your delivery as it drives down your sending reputation.  Spam traps, can get you blacklisted immediately.

Purchasing a list is equivalent to playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun – YOU ARE GUARANTEED TO LOOSE.

So, when it comes to purchasing a list the negatives far outweigh the potential rewards……so DON’T.

Understanding our limitations is what allows us to survive life – for example, I am extremely aware that I have a limitation when it comes to sharks so I simply do NOT go into the ocean. Am I missing out? Maybe, but I never go to the beach feeling bad that I did not go into the ocean…. I know my limitation!

Understanding Limitations doesn’t just pertain to our lives but to business as well – when using email as a marketing tool the limitations of that tool should be understood – Otherwise, your results are going to be “limited”.

Let’s first look at the limitations of Email:

• It is not a brochure
• It is not a flyer
• It is not a video

Email marketing is not meant to be a visual tool that goes into depth about a Commercial Property.

Email is a teaser meant to provide just enough information to peak the interest of the recipients to click to download a brochure, flyer, video, or go to a website, etc. – To lead them to where the selling can actually take place.

When thinking of what information (photos and text) to include in an email keep it short and sweet – just enough to get the recipient who might be interested in a Commercial Property to seek out more information. It is in this “more information” where you can include every piece of selling material you need.

Targeting your Email with the highlights needed to generate a click-through, will help you avoid failed campaigns.
